Wasp removal from Forest Pest Control

WASPS AND WASP NEST REMOVAL

Wasps (Vespula vulgaris) can be aggressive if disturbed and we highly recommend that a professional deal with it.

We use professional grade insecticide, normally at the entrance and in the nest itself if possible and will be either early morning or evening when the majority of the wasps will be present and less active. If you wish the nest to be removed we are happy to oblige although if there is no problem leaving the nest where it is, it is highly unlikely to be used again by the wasps and if it is visible it may act as a deterant to any young queens looking to nest in that area during the next season.

In the late autumn, workers will start to die off and the young queen will hibernate until the next season where the process of egg laying will start again to create more workers. Only wasps and hornets will be dealt with as we will NOT treat any species of Bee. However, We can offer advice on how to deal with them or put you in contact with local bee keepers who can arrange their relocation.

Ant infestation removal

ANT INFESTATIONS

There are many species of ants in our country, the main ones are the Black ant (Lasius niger), the Ghost ant (Tapinoma melanocephalum), the Pharoah ant (Monomorium Pharaonis) and the Rogers ant (Hypoponera Punctatissima). They pose no threat health wise but are deemed to be a public nuisance in the homes, gardens and workplaces and may have a detrimental effect on businesses.

They are from the same family as wasps (hymenoptera) and are often seen scavenging for food so leave a pheremone trail for other ants to follow once they have found it. Depending on the species, the nest may contain just one queen or many so treatment will be carried out according to the species identified. Control is carried out by using powerful insecticides which the foraging ants take back to the nest which kills the queen(s) and workers.

Bedbug problems fixed

BEDBUGS

Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius linnaeus) are about 5mm in size, similar size of an apple pip and have a flat oval shaped body. They hide themselves in mattresses, within bed frames, under bed bases, within bed headboards, behind loose wallpaper, within paintings, wall sockets, behind wall partitioning, suspended ceilings, skirting boards and on clothing or furnishings - anywhere with a dark crack that provides cover.

Bed bugs are not known to carry disease. However, they do feed on human blood, usually at night whilst people are asleep in their beds as they are attracted by the warmth of body heat. These bites cause irritation and itching and can take up to 2 days for the bites to show on the skin. Some people are particularly sensitive to the bites and experience an allergy and inflammation, especially to the arms and shoulders - this can be quite severe and may require medical attention.

The presence of bed bugs in a room can be detected by the following: Blood spotting on bedding. Brown dropping spots close to where they live and on bedding, Opal coloured un-hatched and hatched eggs called casings.

In heavy infestations, a sweet almond smell is common. Treatment is by using integrated pest management and will require the full co-operation of you to ensure we eliminate the bed bugs. We use steam treatment on soft furnishings which kills the bedbugs by thermal shock, and Insecticide which flushes out the insects and kills them and all life stages of the insects including the eggs.

Cockroach clearance

COCKROACHES

There are two main species of cockroaches that infest our nation, Oriental (Blatta Orientalis) and German Cockroaches (Blatta Germanica). Each have their own traits and weaknesses. They breed very quickly and will eat most food types including themselves.

They can cause a public health risk by carrying diseases such as salmonella, typhoid and dysentry and also pose a risk to adults and children who suffer from eczema and asthma. Cockroach infestations can also severely damage businesses and their reputation particularly to businesses that provide food to the public who should comply with the Food Safety Act 1990, and therefore have a responsibilty to monitor any pest infestations on their premises.

Our initial survey will involve an Integrated pest management programme to establish why you have cockroaches and how to prevent any reinfestations.

Flea infestation

FLEA INFESTATION TREATMENT

We deal with our two main problematic fleas which are commonly the dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis) and cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis). Once the dog or cat has carried the flea into your home, they will soon breed and begin laying eggs in the furniture and carpets.

To irradicate the fleas your assistance and the flea treatment for your pets is only one step towards eliminating the problem. We use a treatment of spraying a strong insecticide following a thorough hoovering. Once administered, the rooms need to be left for at least 2 hours to allow it to dry, and are not to be hoovered for at least 2 weeks after that. This allows the eggs to hatch and the next generation of eggs, larvae and adults can be killed.
